Mama Loved Roses

Mama Loved Roses
@Jim Grubbs/Rick Lang

V1
Mama loved roses, had them planted all around
Daddy placed them tenderly in that fertile ground
Right outside the wind is facing mama’s favorite chair
The loveliest red roses, their fragrance filled the air

Chorus
The good Lord knew mama loved her roses
They always seemed to blossom at her smile
As she watered them with love, she’d thank the Lord above
One day she’ll tend to His roses, in heaven up on high

V2
In this ‘ol world the best things just don’t seem to last too long
But the roses kept on growing after mama's strength was gone
Dressed their best for mama each and every May
She’d gaze out of the window, at their beautiful display

Bridge
Mama died last April and those roses never bloomed
Each one of them was grieving, they were missing mama too

Chorus 2
The good Lord knew that mama loved her roses
They always seemed to blossom at her smile
As she watered them with love, she’d thank the Lord above
Now she’s tending to His roses in heaven up on high
