When Frank & Jesse Rode To Town

When Frank & Jesse Rode To Town
@Nancy Posey/Rick Lang

V1
Everyone feared the James gang
They were known far and wide
For robbing banks and robbing trains
Made town folks scatter and hide

V2
They rode through in the dark of night
We could hear hoofbeats pound
The sheriff locked his door and cursed
When Frank and Jesse came to town

Chorus
We saw their names on wanted posters
No one dared to hunt ‘em down
Drew the pistols from their holsters
And fired off every round
When Frank & Jesse rode to into town

V3
Bartenders fearing fir their life
Gave ‘em whiskey by the round
Not a man dared look ‘em in the eye
When Frank & Jesse rode into town

V4
We heard they robbed the Lock Six Payroll
Without a shot they took ‘em down
But all our hopes were shot to hell
When Frank & Jesse came into town

Chorus
V5
Them boys they weren’t no Robin Hood’s
No they won’t be glory bound
They never meant to do no good
When Frank & Jesse came into town
