Tall Stands Of Timber

Writer: Rick Lang

Lyrics

Tall Stands Of Timber
@Rick Lang/Ted De Mille
Deep in the forests in the shadows of the mountains
The boy was always at his father’s side
No taller than a sapling among the mighty evergreens
On his daddy’s shoulders he would ride
Father and his son lived for every season
In harmony with the oaks and the pines
Knew the roots ran deep beneath those hardwood trees
He learned to trust in Natures wise design
His daddy knew the names of every tree in the forest
Taught the boy how each one could be used,
Wide pine boards for their cabin floor
White birches to build their own canoes,
Chorus
Tall stands of timber reaching for the sky
Sturdy as the granite on the mountain side
No matter where life took him, the boy would still remember
Walking with his dad through those tall standard timber
One day the boy would come back to visit the home place
Hike the trail through their Timber stands
With his own son on his shoulders, shared his father’s wisdom
Passed along his love for the land
