Wake Up Sleeper

Wake Up Sleeper
@Nancy Posey/Rick Lang

V1
God saw his prophet Jonah, called out to him one day
Told him “go to Nineveh”, Jonah went the other way

Pre chorus
Aboard a ship while Noah slept
A storm blew in, the sailors wept
…..they cried

Chorus
Wake up sleeper, storms are roaring overhead
Wake up sleeper or soon we’ll all be dead
Prayers to our gods have gone unanswered
Why don’t you pray to your God instead

V2
Christ told His apostles “get in the boat let’s ride”
Then He fell asleep before they reached the other side

Pre chorus
A storm blew in they shook with fear
They woke the one the storms would hear
….they cried

Chorus
Wake up sleeper, storms are roaring overhead
Wake up sleeper or soon we’ll all be dead
Our faith is shaken, has God forsaken
He’ll surely listen to your prayers instead
V3
When Jesus went to pray that night in dark Gethsemane
Told His three companions “please stay awake with me”

Pre chorus
As Jesus prayed three times He wept
Returned to find them where they slept
…..Saying

Chorus
Wake up sleepers soon I’ll be betrayed
Wake up sleepers, keep your watch today
You’ll weep when they lay me in the grave
Rejoice when the stone is rolled away
